Decorating – Finding the right Bed

Since the bed is the focal point of your bedroom find a bed that matches your personal style. You spend a large part of your life in your bedroom; you should spend it in beauty and style.  Here is a list of very popular styles to choose from.

Captain's Bed: Often used in teens and children's room.  Bed features drawers and cabinets under the mattress for storage.  Great bed for kids room with plenty of places to hide away toys.

Daybed:  Great bed for a teenagers room or spare guest room.  Daybeds are typically placed sideways along the way and double for setting.  You can also get a daybed with a trundle.  Trundle bed can be easily pulled out for a guest to sleep on.

Four Poster Bed:  Four-poster beds are great for large room with high ceilings.  There are many different styles of a four-poster bed from traditional to contemporary.  They consists of a headboard and footboard with four vertical post.

Hollywood Bed:  A Hollywood bed is very sleek and contemporary.  Beds are very low to the floor, can have or not have a headboard.  Often the headboard is upholstered. 

Platform Bed:  Platform beds look almost like they are floating on air.  They consist of a mattress with a stage type of box under it raising the mattress one to two feet off the floor.   Good bed for a large room and adds a dramatic affect. 

Sleigh Bed:  Inspired by the 19th century sleighs.  Sleigh beds have very high curved headboards.  Footboards are lower than the headboard and also cured.  Some sleigh beds feature some beautiful carving on the wood.  Sleigh beds are for larger spaces, they are large in appearance.

Canopy Bed:  Teenage girls love canopy beds.  A canopy bed is a four-poster bed with fabric draped over the top and sides.  Canopy beds are romantic and have a sense of luxury and privacy.  

Once you choose the bed for the bedroom you are decorating it will help determine the mood of the room.  The fun part comes when choosing the bed coverings.
